Invocations From The Quran
“Our Lord! Accept [this service] from us. Verily, You are the All-Hearer, the All-Knower.” (2:127)
Notes: Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and his son Ismail (AS) built the Kabah (The House of Allah) in Makkah through Allah's command. They made this dua while raising its foundation.
They were performing a good deed yet they asked Allah the Al-Mighty to accept their deed. It is a good dua to make all the time and after performing a good deed or an ibadah (worship). May Allah accept all our good deeds and forgive our sins.
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala said:
“And remember when Ibrahim and (his son) Ismail were raising the foundation of the House (saying), “Our Lord! Accept [this service] from us. Verily, You are the All-Hearer, the All-Knower.”” (2:127)
“Our Lord! And make us Muslims [in submission] to You and from our descendants a Muslim nation [in submission] to You. And show us our rites and accept our repentance. Truly, You are the One Who Accepts repentance, and Most Merciful.” (2:128)
Notes: Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and his son Ismail (AS) made this supplication while building the Kabah. They asked Allah to make them and their offsprings submissive and obedient to His commands and to worship Him (Alone). They also asked Allah to accept their repentance.
Abu Huraira, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “When a person dies, his deeds are cut off except for three: Continuing charity, knowledge that others benefited from, and a righteous son who supplicates for him.” (At-Tirmidhi)
“Our Lord! Give us in this world that which is good and in the Hereafter that which is good and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.” (2:201)
Note: The best dua to ask Allah for goodness in this life and the hereafter and for protection from the Hell Fire.
Narrated Anas: The most frequent invocation of The Prophet (ﷺ) was: "O Allah! Give to us in the world that which is good and in the Hereafter that which is good, and save us from the torment of the Fire." (2.201)(Bukhari)
This dua is recited between the two corners (the Yemeni and Black Stone) during Tawaf (circumambulation around the Kabah) when performing Hajj or Umrah
As narrated by Abdullah ibn as-Sa'ib: I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say between the two corners: “O Allah, bring us a blessing in this world and a blessing in the next and guard us from punishment of Hell.” (Abi Dawud)
“Our Lord! Pour upon us patience and set firm our feet and give us victory over the disbelieving people.” (2:250)
Note: Talut and his armies (few believers) invoked Allah to give them patience, and courage and to make them victorious against Jalut and his forces (who were large in number). Allah gave them courage, strength and victory. As mentioned in the Book of Allah, Prophet Dawud (AS) killed Jalut, Allah gave him the kingdom, prophethood, wisdom and knowledge.
Put your faith and trust in Allah, He is the Trustworthy. Faith, determination and the blessings of Allah count more than numbers (against one's enemies) and give victory. Do not underestimate the Power of Allah, He is The Lord of the Universe and the King of the kings.
Make this supplication to ask Allah for patience, aid, support, firmness and victory.
“Our Lord! Punish us not if we forget or fall into error.” (2:286)
“Our Lord! And lay not upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before us.” (2:286)
“Our Lord! and burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear. And pardon us; and forgive us; and have mercy upon us. You are our protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people.” (2:286)
Note: Narrated by Abu Masud, The Prophet (ﷺ) said “Whoever recites the last two verses of Surat Al-Baqarah at night, it is sufficient for him (for that night).” (Bhukhari)
It is a sunnah to recite the Surah Al-Baqara verse 285 and 286 at night.
It is narrated on the authority of Abdullah (b. Umar) that when the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was taken for the Night journey, he was taken to Sidrat-ul-Muntaha, which is situated on the sixth heaven, where terminates everything that ascends from the earth and is held there, and where terminates every- thing that descends from above it and is held there. (It is with reference to this that) Allah said: " When that which covers covered the lote-tree" (al-Qur'an, Iiii. 16). He (the narrator) said: (It was) gold moths. He (the narrator further) said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was given three (things): he was given five prayers, be was given the concluding verses of Sura al-Baqara, and remission of serious Sins for those among his Ummah who associate not anything with Allah" (Muslim)
“Our Lord! Let not our hearts deviate (from the truth) after You have guided us and grant us mercy from You. Indeed, You are the Bestower.” (3:8)
Note: It is a beautiful dua to ask Allah not to turn our hearts away from the truth; not to return us to disbelief after we have believed in Him; and to ask for guidance and mercy.
Anas narrated: “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) would often say: Ya Muqallibal-qulub, thabbit qalbi 'ala dinik ('O Changer of the Hearts! Strengthen my heart upon Your Religion.)' So I said: 'O Prophet of Allah! We believe in you and what you have come with, but do you fear for us?' He said: 'Yes. Indeed the hearts are between two Fingers of Allah's Fingers, He changes them as He wills.”(At-Tirmidhi)
It was also narrated that The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to supplicate
“O You Who changes the hearts, make my heart firm on Your religion.”
He then recited,
“Our Lord! Let not our hearts deviate (from the truth) after You have guided us, and grant us mercy from You. Truly, You are the Bestower.” (3:8)
“Our Lord! Verily, it is You Who will gather mankind on the Day about which there is no doubt. Verily, Allah never breaks His Promise.” (3:9)
Note: We ask Allah to be pleased with us on the Day that He gathers us.
Abu Huraira reported Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) as saying:
Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, will take in His grip the Earth on the Day of Judgment and He would roll up the sky in His right hand and would say: I am the Lord; where are the sovereigns of the world? (Muslim)
“Our Lord! We have indeed believed, so forgive us our sins and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.” (3:16)
Note: Supplication to confirm our belief to Allah and to ask Him for forgiveness and protection from the Fire.
“My Lord! Grant me from You a good offspring. Indeed, You are the Hearer of supplication.” (3:38)
Note: It is the supplication that Zakariya invoked Allah to bless him with a righteous child. Thus, Allah blessed him with a son (Yahya).
“Our Lord! We have believed in what You have sent down and we follow the messenger, so register us among the witnesses [to truth].” (3:53)
Note: The Hawari (helpers) of Prophet Isa made this dua. They had believed in the prophet and his message and they had followed him. They asked Allah to write them among the witnesses.
“Our Lord! Forgive us our sins and anything we may have done that transgressed our duty and establish our feet firmly and give us victory over the disbelieving people.” (3:147)
Note: Supplication to ask for forgiveness of sins and short-comes, and to ask for resilience and victory.
“Our Lord! You did not create (all) this without purpose; exalted are You [above such a thing]; then protect us from the punishment of the Fire.” (3:191)
Note: Allah did not create the heavens and earth and whatever is in between them and inside them without a purpose. Allah mentioned in His Holy Book that He created the heavens and earth and He alternates the night and day as signs for the people of understandings. Furthermore, Allah created men and jinns to worship Him (Alone). The supplication is to ask Allah for protection from the punishment of the Hell Fire.
“Our Lord! Indeed whoever You admit to the Fire - You have disgraced him, and for the wrongdoers there are no helpers.” (3:192)
“Our Lord! Indeed we have heard a caller calling to faith, [saying], 'Believe in your Lord,' and we have believed.” (3:193)
Note: We have heard and believed to the call of our Beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) calling to faith. May Allah make us those who worship Him (Alone) and those who follow the sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ).
“Our Lord! Forgive us our sins and remove from us our misdeeds and make us to die with the righteous.” (3:193)
Note: Supplication to ask Allah to forgive our sins and to expiate our evil deeds (that we committed in private or public, and knowingly or unknowingly), and to make our souls be in the company of the righteous servants when we die.
“Our Lord! Grant us what You promised us through Your messengers and do not disgrace us on the Day of Resurrection. Indeed, You do not fail in [Your] promise.” (3:194)
Note: Supplication to ask Allah to grant us the promise that He made through His Messengers. Also it asks Allah not to dishonor us on the Day of Judgment. Allah never breaks His promise.
It is narrated in Bukhari that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to recited the last ten verses of Surat-Al-Imran (3:190-200) till the end when he woke up at the night to pray.
“Our Lord! We have believed, so write us down among the witnesses.” (5:83)
“O Allah! our Lord! Send down to us a table [spread with food] from the heaven to be for us a festival for the first of us and the last of us and a sign from You. And provide for us, and You are the best of providers.” (5:114)
Note: Dua to ask for provisions. This supplication was made by Prophet Isa (AS). He asked Allah to provide (sufficient food) for him and his followers. Allah is Ar-Razzaq (The All-Provider)
“Our Lord! We have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers.” (7:23)
Note: Dua for repentance, and acknowledging that we have sins (errs) and we have wronged ourselves. If Allah does not forgive us we will be among the losers. May Allah forgive our sins and accept our repentance. Prophet Adam (AS) and his wife made this dua after regretting the sin that they committed by disobeying the order of Allah, the Creator of everything.
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala said:
“And O Adam! Dwell you and your wife in Paradis, and eat thereof as you both wish, but approach not the tree otherwise you both will be of the wrong-doers” (7:19)
“The Shaitan whispered suggestions to them both in order to uncover that which was hidden from them of their private parts (before); he said: “Your Lord not forbid you this tree save that you should become angels or become of the immortals.”” (7:20)
“And he (Shaitan) swore by Allah to them both, “Verily, I am one of the sincere well-wishers for you both.”” (7:21)
“So he misled them with deception. Then when they tasted of the tree, that which was hidden from them of their private parts became manifest to them and they began to cover themselves with leaves of Paradise (in order to cover their shame). And their Lord called out to them,“Did I not forbid you that tree and tell you: Verily, Shaitan is an open enemy to you?”” (7:22)
“They said: “Our Lord! We have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers.”” (7:23)
“Allah said: “Get down, one of you an enemy to the other [i.e. Adam, Hawwa and Shaitan]. On earth will be a dwelling place for you and an enjoyment for a time.” (7:24)
“Our Lord! Do not place us with the people who are wrong-doers.” (7:47)
Note: This dua is to ask Allah to protect us from being among the people of Hell Fire.
“Our Lord, Judge between us and our people in truth, and You are the best of those who give judgment.” (7:89)
Note: The dua was made by Prophet Shu'ayb (AS). He asked Allah to be the Judge between him and the disbelievers. Allah is the best and just Judge.
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala said:
“And to [the people of] Madyan [We sent] their brother Shu'ayb. He said, “O my people! Worship Allah! you have no deity other than Him. There has come to you clear evidence from your Lord. So fulfill the measure and weight and do not deprive people of their due and cause not corruption upon the earth after its reformation. That is better for you, if you should be believers.”” (7:85)
“And do not sit on every path, threatening and averting from the way of Allah those who believe in Him, seeking to make it [seem] deviant. And remember when you were few and He increased you. And see how was the end of the corrupters.” (7:86)
“And if there is a party of you who has believe in that with which I have been sent and a party who do not believe, so be patient until Allah judges between us. And He is the best of judges.” (7:87)
“Said the eminent ones who were arrogant among his people, “We will surely evict you, O Shu'ayb, and those who have believed with you from our city, or you must return to our religion.” He said, “Even if we were unwilling?”” (7:88)
“We would have invented against Allah a lie if we returned to your religion after Allah had saved us from it. And it is not for us to return to it except that Allah, our Lord, should will. Our Lord has encompassed all things in knowledge. Upon Allah we have relied. “Our Lord, decide between us and our people in truth, and You are the best of those who give decision.”” (7:89)
“Said the eminent ones who disbelieved among his people, “If you should follow Shu'ayb, indeed, you would then be losers.”” (7:90)
“So the earthquake seized them and they lay (dead), prostrate in their home” (7:91)
“Those who denied Shu'ayb - it was as though they had never resided there. Those who denied Shu'ayb - it was they who were the losers.” (7:92)
“Our Lord, pour upon us patience and let us die as Muslims [in submission to You].” (7:126)
Note: It is a wonderful supplication to ask Allah to give you patience and die as a righteous (believer).
Firawn and his chiefs rejected the message of Prophet Musa (AS) and treated the prophet's signs as sorcery. After Prophet Musa (AS) threw his stick and it became a serpent. Firawn collected magicians to come and to compete with Prophet Musa (AS). However, the magicians ended up believing in Allah. Thus, Firawn told them that he would cut the opposite side of their hands and their feet, and also crucify them if they would not believe in him. The magicians asked Allah to give them patience and die as believers.
This is the summary of my understanding from verse 123 to 126. Please read Surah Al-A'raf (Chapter 7) for more insights.
“Our Lord! Make us not [objects of] trial for the wrongdoing people. And save us by Your mercy from the disbelieving people.” (10:85-86)
Note: Prophet Musa (AS)'s companions made this dua asking Allah to protect them from the oppressors and the disbelievers. A good supplication to ask for protection and success.
“O our Lord! Certainly, You know what we conceal and what we reveal. Nothing on the earth or in the heaven is hidden from Allah.” (14:38)
Note: Allah is Al-Aleem, He knows what is in the heavens and earth and what is in between them. He knows what we hide in our hearts (intentions) and what we reveal (actions). This dua was made by Prophet Ibrahim (AS)
“O Lord! Make me one who performs As-Salat (prayer), and (also) from my offspring. Our Lord! And accept my invocation.” (14:40)
Note: Prophet Ibrahim (AS) invoked Allah to make him and his offsprings among those who establish the prayer; and Allah to accept his supplication.
“Our Lord! Forgive me and my parents and the believers on the Day when the reckoning will be established.” (14:41)
Note: Prophet Ibrahim (AS) made this supplication asking Allah to forgive him, his parents and all believers on the Day of Judgment.
Abu Hurayra said, “The dead person can be raised a degree after his death. He said, 'My Lord, how is this?' He was told, 'Your child can ask for forgiveness for you.'” (Al-Adab Al-Mufrad)
It is a good dua to make for yourself, parents and the believers. I have a habit of reciting it and the one below (17:24) after my salats.
“My Lord! Bestow on them Your Mercy as they did bring me up when I was young” (17:24)
Note: A supplication to pray for our parents. Allah commands us to worship Him (Alone), to obey His Beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) and to be dutiful to our parents.
“Our Lord! Grant us from Yourself mercy and facilitate for us our affair in the right way.” (18:10)
Note: This dua was made by the people of the Cave in Surah Al-Kahf. They asked Allah to be merciful and kind toward them. They asked Allah for guidance and good ending. After running away from the disbelievers, they seek refuge in the cave to safeguard their religion and fearing persecution. Allah makes their story a sign for people of understandings.
“My Lord! Open for my chest (grant me self-confidence, contentment and boldness). And ease my task for me. And loose the knot from my tongue. That they understand my speech.” (20: 25-28)
Note: When Prophet Musa (AS) was ordered by Allah to go Firawn and ordered Firawn to worship Allah (Alone) and to stop mistreating the Children of Israel. He made this supplication asking Allah to aid and support him in this mission. He asked Allah to untie his tongue so that Firawn would understand his speech. When Prophet Musa (AS) was an infant, he put a hot coal stone in his mouth instead of a date when he was presented both; as a result it affected his speech.
I recite this supplication when I am speaking in public and afraid to speak to a particular person or people or convey a message. I even recited this before my interviews.
“Our Lord! Verily, we are afraid that he will hasten [punishment] against us or that he will transgress.” (20:45)
Note: When Prophet Musa (AS) and his brother Harun were ordered to convey the command of Allah to Firawn. They made this dua to express their fears and griefs of the torment of Firawn. However Allah said “He (Allah) said: “Fear not, verily, I am with you both, hearing and seeing.”” (20:46)
“My Lord! Increase me in knowledge.” (20:114)
Note: Supplication to ask Allah to increase us in knowledge.
“None has the right to worshipped but You, Glorified are You! Truly, I have been of the wrong-doers.”(21:87
Note: Dua made by Prophet Yunus (AS) when he was in “the darkness of the belly of the fish, the darkness of the sea and the darkness of the night”
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala said:
“We answered his call, and delivered him from his distress. And We do deliver the believers.” (21:88)
“No Muslim ever prays to his Lord with these words for anything, but He will answer his prayer.” (At-Tirmidhi)
“My Lord! Leave me not without offspring, though You are the Best of inheritors.” (21:89)
Note: This dua was made by Zakariya asking Allah to bless him with a child.
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala said:
“So We answered his call, and We granted him Yahya, and We cured his wife (to bear a child). Indeed, they used to hasten on to do good deeds and used to call on Us with hope and fear, and used to be humble themselves before Us.” (21:90)
“My Lord! I seek refuge with You from the whisperings of the devils. And I seek refuge with You, My Lord! lest they should come near me.” (23:97-98)
Note: Allah commanded the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) to seek refuge with Him from Shaitan.
The Prophet used to make this dua
“O Allah, I seek refuge in You from being crushed by a falling wall, and I seek refuge with You from drowning or being burned, and I seek refuge with You from being led astray by the Shaitan at the time of death, and I seek refuge with You from being killed for Your sake while fleeing the battlefield, and I seek refuge with You from dying of a scorpion sting.” (Sunan An-Nasai)
“Our Lord! We have believed, so forgive us and have mercy upon us, and for You are the Best of all who show mercy.” (23:109)
Note: Dua asking Allah for forgiveness and mercy
“My Lord! Forgive and have mercy, for You are the Best of those who show mercy.” (23:118)

Sukran JazakAllah Kairan for reading, I hope you find beneficial knowledge in this post. Whatever is good and beneficial is from Allah and any mistakes are from my weakness and Shaitan. My goal was to write duas from the Quran only, as me being extra, I added notes from the Quran and Hadith to better understand it to my best ability and understanding. It took me an extra 3 days of researching and finishing the article. During this process, I learned tremendously and I realized there is more to learn about my religion. There had been moments for me to give up. However, I decided to move on and complete it. Alhamdulillah, with the help of Allah, I am able to do so. I ask Allah to increase us in beneficial knowledge and to make us understand His religion. May Allah make it easy for us to worship Him (Alone) and obey and follow the sunnah of His prophet.
