The Mothers of the Believers: Zaynab Bint Khuzaymah
Zaynab Bint Khuzaymah was one of the Prophet's wives. She was known for her generosity, compassion, and kindness to the poor; she was called Umm Al-Masakeen, meaning “The Mother of the Poor”. She was the daughter of Hind bint Awf bin Zuhair. Zaynab was the half-sister of Maimouna bint Al-Hatith, one of the Prophet's wives, and Lubaba bint Al-Hatith, the wife of Al-Abbas, the Prophet's uncle.
According to Hakim, Zaynab was from the tribe of Banu Amir ibn Sa'sa. She was married to Tufail ibn al-Hatith, who later passed away. Then she married the Prophet (ﷺ) and became the mother of the believers. Sadly, she passed away shortly after their marriage in Medina. She was the second of the Prophet's wives to pass away during his lifetime.
